Mission Fund grants awarded

Tthe profits from the Recycle for a Reason sales are designated for mission work and last month the Mission Committee awarded these grants: recycle-world

1.  A sum of $1,000 to sponsor Vacation Bible School in the summer of 2014.  The goal is to reinforce Christian education for our own children and to reach out to the neighborhood children.

2.  A check for $1,000 for the Chugiak/Eagle River Food Pantry to help feed the ever increasing number of hungry families in the area.

3.  A grant of $1,500 to support New Day Alaska, a new Christian ministry seeking to reach those who shun the traditional “church”.   To learn more about this outreach project, sponsored by the Alaska Conference, read the article in this newsletter

4.  A donation of $1,000 to the Cynthia Sage Lowe Fund.  Money in this fund is set aside for emergency requests that come to UMCC’s pastor.  The guidelines for receiving money from this fund are indicted by its subtitle, “The Good Samaritan Fund’.
