Register for the upcoming Mission u Event, to be held January 17 – 18 at Anchor Park United Methodist Church. With the theme, “Put Your Arms Around the World,” we will embrace the studies of The Roma of Europe, The Call: Living Sacramentally and Walking Justly, and Leaving Home, Finding Home, our children’s study. The event will be hosted by the United Methodist Women.
You won’t want to miss this great weekend! Study Leaders Rev. Evelyn Erbele of Ketchikan and Linda Haynes of Wasilla promise to fill our minds and hearts with new knowledge to inspire us to clearly see ourselves as part of a larger picture that includes those living in poverty and others who live in the margins of the world. We will feel the gifts, talents, joy, contribution and worth of all God’s children.
We’ll begin Friday afternoon with a focus group with representatives from the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, Alaska Food Coalition, and The Children’s Lunchbox leading a dialog on Community Food Security. We’ll feast together prior to our opening worship, and end our first evening with thought provoking introductions to the studies. Saturday morning we’ll begin with a workshop facilitated by Alaska’s representative on the UMW National Board of Directors, Jo Anne Hayden. She will guide us to see ourselves as leaders as we participate in the studies, and we’ll learn ways to “Take the Studies Home”. Then we’ll begin our studies, with a break for an authentic French Romani meal and live jazz music performed by the Alaskan Gypsies Acoustic Swing Band. We’ll complete the studies by 4 p.m., and after closing worship and communion, we’ll end at 5 p.m.
We urge you each to register as soon as possible, so that our planning process for you will run smoothly. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions!
