Farewell Hallelujah- Pastor Carlo’s goodbye song

By Carlo A. Rapanut
to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”

Six years ago to this day
We left our home far away
Because we knew our God had called us to you
We left our family and our friends
The world we knew, the places we’ve been
We came by faith in God, O Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelu – jah.

You welcomed us with open arms,
With all our quirks, with all our qualms
You made as feel that we belong among you
You took my lead, you worked with me,
You listened to the words I preached
We grew in love and grace, O Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelu – jah.

We learned together about our call
To follow Jesus, his ways and all
For that is what it means to be disciples.
We left our building to make church a verb
We opened our building to recycle and serve
For the people all around us, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelu – jah.

We worked, we served, we laughed, we cried
We argued in love, God knows we tried
We sang, we prayed, we shared in God’s communion.
But now it’s time to say goodbye
A great six years have just gone by!
Thanks be to God, O Glory, Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelu – jah.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Hallelu – jah.
