July’s event involved Wheels. The Bible story was about Phillip and the Ethiopian official who was riding in a chariot (wheeled, get it?). The message revolved around spreading good news, as opposed to dwelling on the negative. The children made wind-up chariots propelled by rubber bands and enjoyed racing their creations around the gym.
Lunch was served in the form of pizza wheels (English muffins, sauce, and cheese) which the children decorated with slivered vegetables.
The afternoon ended with a bike rodeo consisting of helmet fittings, decorating and installation of bike flags, bike decorating and repair, and a race through an obstacle course.
The number of attendees was few but the enthusiasm high. All in all, the event was considered a success by participants and staff alike.
