Homework Club numbers rise

The Homework Club, which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, has increased the number of participants to 26. Most afternoons see 16 children pile off the elementary school bus and four more are delivered to UMCC by parents. All rush to partake of a generous snack prepared under the direction of Susan Day. After getting the “wigglies” out, the group sits down to 40 minutes of homework guided by seven or more mentors. The day ends with 20 minutes of large motor muscle activities and a chaperoned walk home. This outreach would not be possible without the dedicated team of adults and teens that work to make each child’s education a priority. Thank you to all who choose to show God’s love in this way.
