Tuesday, Sept 22, was the opening day for the Homework Club. This club meets from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is a community outreach program that has been provided to meet a need for neighborhood families. School aged children are brought, by bus, to UMCC where they are provided with a warm and caring environment. They are fed, monitored, assisted with homework, and are given opportunities for activities that are both fun and are learning experiences. The program is obviously meeting a need in the community as witnessed by the number of children attending this program. We are also using the building as envisioned. If this is a mission that you can support, please consider giving your time and attention to helping our neighborhood families. Volunteers prepare and clean-up 15 minutes before the children come and 15 minutes after the children leave. Help is still needed in the kitchen, so that’s another opportunity to assist with this program. No special skills are required, only a desire to love children by showing them how important they and their education are to the community. If you are interested in working with this program please contact email@example.com for more information.
