This Sunday, August 21st, will be our annual “Church is a Verb” Sunday here at the United Methodist Church of Chugiak, beginning at 9:30 am. On this day, instead of our traditional worship service, we will gather for a quick devotion, then head out to serve our neighbors. Our Service is Worship!
Please come prepared. Dress for the weather, and in almost all cases, gloves and sturdy boots are appropriate. Please bring any tools you have that you might need. In most cases tools will be provided, but if you have your own, bringing them will help ensure there are enough tools for everyone.
And don’t worry about whether or not you can contribute – you can! We will have projects suitable for a wide range of skills and interests.
Here are a few of them:
- Simple carpentry
- Outdoor staining (weather permitting)
- Install a window
- Clearing trash from the roadsides
- Handcrafts for those who cannot or choose not to work outdoors
We’ll be working at several different locations: Birchwood Camp, Elementary Schools, Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center, and perhaps at a few private homes.
Thank you for your giving heart and for being a part of this vibrant mission work. Jesus has shown us that the Lord loves how His children love and serve one another. Let’s make a difference this Sunday!
